Belier Design offers designs with a subtle, yet effortless elegance, along with a touch of the modern spirit – and in Belier Design’s newest wedding and evening gown collection, Vien continues this notion through crafting pieces inspired by vintage guises, romantic styles, and feminine silhouettes.
Vien Lee (creator and Chief Designer of Belier Design), is a Chinese Canadian fashion designer born in Hong Kong and raised in Toronto, Canada. She graduated from Studio Berçot in Paris, France where she studied fashion design for 3 years. Vien is fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, English and French.
Upon completion of the Parisian fashion design program, Vien came back to Hong Kong to start her path working in the fashion industry, while designing her own clothes in her leisure time. Highly praised by her growing cadre of clients and peers, Vien was thus encouraged to build her own label and further develop her own designs.
Vien took her passion for design and skills from her education and experience in the fashion industry, to designing wedding and evening gowns; and in 2007, Vien launched Belier Design. Inspired by European glamour and the use of high quality fabrics - including silk chiffon, European and Asian laces, embroidered Shanghai silk, and other chic yet elegant fabrics from around the world.
If you have a small frame, consider an empire waist wedding dress which will appear to elongate your figure. Another option is a trumpet skirt with a continuous line that hugs the body - a style also perfect for a petite. More still, a gown styled after a mermaid will also create a heightened effect to your silhouette.
Try dresses with asymmetric details which will create a slimming effect from hip to hemline. A-line wedding dress will also keep the curves under wraps.
A structured wedding dress can have boning so substantial that you can dare to go bare underneath. Also, a mandarin collar lace bridal dress will cover your bust area but create an elegant effect without revealing too much. Off the shoulder straps on a dress create an elegant V-neckline taking the focus off your cleavage and placing it on your collarbone instead.
The well rounded woman can pick out a wedding dress that has a dropped waist. This detail will give a body hugging effect that will gently slim the figure. A-line skirts and mermaid styles will also give a slimming effect to your plus size silhouette.
Knowing the place and time of your wedding will help focus your search for your perfect wedding dress. For example; select ball gown styles and long train wedding dresses for exchanging vows in a romantic cathedral. Vintage styles and a glamorous red carpet look with a long veil are also suitable. As for an outdoor daytime ceremony at the beach, choose a light-weighted wedding dress, preferably with fabric that is breathable, such as silk or silk chiffon. Avoid fabrics that are stiff and non-breathable, such as velvet and brocade.
